Frequently-Asked Questions From Students
If you don't see your question here, can you let me know via text in Remind privately? I truly want to hear from you and answer your questions as best I can.
Q: What do I do if I lose Wi-fi or Zoom "drops" me during class?
A: The best thing is to keep on working. If you can still access the agenda and/or Google Classroom, do that. You will not get penalized! It happens all the time. If possible, see if you can text me and let me know that it dropped you. If not, I know you'll get to me when you can.
Q: The preparation for the benchmark was intense, with many small & large assignments. Will the whole year be like that?
A: Sometimes. Certainly an honors class is more intensified and concentrated work overall than a CP class. Homework frequency will be reduced slightly, and book-reading will be increased in all classes. There will be fewer articles, we will still have short videos and some Cornell notes. Annotations will still continue in Kami, just not in the high numbers of articles we had during benchmark prep. I want us to play more memorization and vocab games, and more fun interesting group projects around whichever book or play we are studying at the time.
Q: Can I turn in late work?
A: Yes. Please try to get it done and submitted as soon after you know it's late. Let me know by text or email that you did it, so I can change the grade. Give me 24 hours to process in Google Classroom and Powerschool.
Q: I have a job. Will you work with my schedule?
A: I will do my best. I understand that in these times, some students have to have a job outside of school. Please let me know if there is a major conflict, and make certain you are not working over the legal limit for students under 18 (28 hours per week, 4 hours on school days, 8 hours on non-school days).
